The Castle Krasna Horka (Slovakia)

Black day for our treasure - The Castle Krasna Horka

It was a sunny but windy day. Everything was easy going and even the last snow was melting down very fast. Suddenly, the fine day was swept away when 2 gipsy kids lit up a cigarette and they threw the matches away. The dry grass was immediately on the fire and the kids ran away. The fire extended really fast because of the strong wind and climbed on the hill as a lightning. People from Krásnohorské Podhradie said that the fire was faster than you can run. And then it all changed the view of the castle. The beautiful castle Krásna Hôrka burned down in less than two hours. People from all villages next to Krásnohorské Podhradie were gathering and saw the disaster. Almost everybody cried and thought that this really is the end of the beautiful castle that we all are proud of.

After the fast intervention of firefighters the director and staff of the castle did a fast inspection of it. They said that approx. 90 per cent of exhibits were intact but the roof was completely burnt.

Now a provisional roof is almost done and there is a lot of work to be done on the castle an in people´s mind.
